July continued to be hot, 113 degrees, so hot that we canceled the monthly ride.
The club didn’t have any events planned in July. The top of the Rockies in Paonia was a destination ride for a lot of die-hard riders regardless of the hot weather, but I wasn’t one of them. Instead I stayed home and rode in the early mornings.
In August, Ken did briskly lead the monthly ride to five of the local Bingo sites.
Again it was a 100+ day but ten of us riders did endured the heat to get one ticket
closer to winning the big prize.
The ladies ride and luncheon meetup was in Newcastle. Jeanie Thurston & I
met in Rocklin and rode the back roads to one of the Bingo sites in Wheatland. Came upon a sign on W Wise Road “pavement ends”, the road was dry, dirt, and gravel so we continued on about three miles till pavement. We took our photos for the contest and then continued on to the eclectic Newcastle Produce, meeting up with Roxanne, Cyndy, Joanne, and Veronica enjoying a good lunch and fun.
The event for August is the Tahoe Chill at Camp Richardson, Lake Tahoe. Gordy
reserves the campsites 10 months in advance. Jack, Lynette, Steve & Jen set up a
great camp and fix the best meals ever. It’s very important that you know that bears wander through the campgrounds day & night. So if you’re afraid of bears this not the campout for you. Plus, a lot of campers think by setting their car alarms off it will scare the bears. So, between the bears & car alarms you don’t get much sleep. This year we had perfect weather and filled our days with self-guided motorcycle rides, lounging at the beach, making friendship bracelets (as long as you didn’t need the letter “E”), singing around the campfire.
September’s Lassen campout was canceled due to the Park Fire smoke. We
did have some members participate in NorCal “Range of Light” which started in Gridley and ended in Laytonville.
In October we had our main event of the year, the “Manchester Campout”. We had 65 attendees. It was nice leaving the hot valley and riding hwy 1 enjoying the cool ocean breeze. New this year was Fred’s Friday Margarita happy hour and Saturday’s happy hour; we enjoyed his famous Bloody Mary’s. Friday night’s lasagna dinner was hosted by Heidi, Karl, Bob, & Terri. The board of directors cooked Saturday night’s dinner. Bob Raster cooked the brisket, and it was delicious. Thank you to every who helped with setup, cooking, & cleanup.
November was our ladies luncheon ride. We rode baseline past the over growing
west Roseville to pleasant grove rd enjoying the farmland, coming upon gravel road ending up at Bennett’s westside Grill excellent food. The Day After Thanksgiving ride enjoyed the scenic roads to the Waterloo restaurant.
In December we enjoyed our holiday potluck party at A&S motor sports, with a
good attendance of 80 members. Our Elf entertained us with great raffle prizes. Cindy Kilton made our table decorations of wine bottles with lights and hand painted with flowers, birds & scenic designs. We also were entertained with Jeanie Thurston’s saxophone band playing Christmas music. The clubs annual BBQ arranged by Fred at the Sacramento Children’s Receiving home (CRH) was enjoyed by all the children. 17 members volunteered at the event cooking, serving food. The club members donated $830 to CRH for Christmas.

Safe riding,
Prez and First Gentleman
