Wanted: A few good men and women!

Sep 12, 2012 – For its thirty years of existence, RCB has run on volunteers. Starting with Earl Mattingly in October of 1982 and most recently with the dozen who cooked hot dogs during “Christmas in August” at the Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home, hundreds (or thousands) of RCB members have contributed and given unselfishly of their time.

It's BASH Weekend

Sep 11, 2012 - Everyone knows there are two ways to do things, the Navy way and the wrong way … or two ways to cook a Thanksgiving turkey, Grandma’s way and the wrong way. Similarly, there are two ways to join your fellow RCB’ers at BASH this weekend … The wrong way involves punching “Quincy” into your GPS (post-R75 bikes) or getting out a Rand-McNally (R75 bikes and earlier).

"What time do we need to arrive?"

Sep 1, 2012 - Showing up a full twenty minutes early, and surveying the packed room, new members Scott and Karin asked out loud how early they needed to arrive to guarantee seating. Laughter ensued, conversations started back up and we welcomed Peter Sandberg back from his temporary Swedish deployment. And with the ringing of his presidential cowbell, our September Club Meeting was called to order.

2012 Fall Classic Discount!

Aug 23, 2012 - Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably already know we're moving from damp, Manchester Beach to drier climates in Cloverdale for our 2012 RCB Fall Classic. Hoping to draw record numbers of participants, we're cutting the co-payment in half (!) for early registrations. Until Sep 29, the event cost (incl. Sat breakfast and dinner, and Sun breakfast) is only $5/person. The price rises to $10/person after Sep 29. The at-the-door price will similarly be $10/person.

Bloomingdale's offering a free R1200R

Aug 20, 2012 - As part of Bloomingdale’s Fall fashion campaign, BMW R1200R Classic motorcycles are being featured in the men’s department at Bloomingdale’s stores nationwide, in the store windows of Bloomingdale’s flagship store on 59th St. in Manhattan, NY and inside the fall men’s catalog. In addition, shoppers have an opportunity to win an R1200R of their own by visiting http://bloomingdales.com/bmw.

Thank you for participating!

Aug 12, 2012 - I would like thank all of the RCB'ers who showed up to cook the dogs and burgers for everyone at the Sacramento Children's Receiving Home (SCRH). It was a really fun time for all. We brought a good amount of donations, and presented the administration with over $500 in gift cards and cash for them to use as they see fit. The assistant administrator told me that they will send the kids to foster homes with new socks, underwear and pajamas as the minimum, so the donations will be put to good use.

Where are our BASH winners?

Aug 8, 2012 - During last Saturday's club meeting, RCB auctioned off two admission passes to CCBR's Autumn Beemer BASH. Two RCB members won and happily came forward to accept their winnings ... The plan was for each of them to complete the application and present it to our treasurer for payment.

Here's the problem - In all the end-of-meeting excitement about our ride to Yerington, we failed to make contact with the two winners and get their completed forms. And none of us recall who the two lucky winners were.

What happens in Yerington ...

Aug 6, 2012 - Forty RCB'ers braved the sweltering Nevada desert heat to convene in Yerington for the thirteenth annual Ride and Bowl. First the good news - There were no ballroom brawls or serious injuries that might embarrass the good name of the River City Beemers, but along the way ...

August Club Meeting and Ride

Aug 3, 2012 - There appeared to be two open seats this morning so it wasn't an overflow crowd, but it still took Gordy's cowbell ringing to call to order. First up our treasurer advised us that the recent trailer purchase put a dent in our finances, but it had been budgeted for and we were still in good financial shape. Nevertheless he used the occasion to ask members to renew and pay promptly, and to keep moving away from checks and cash. At present, roughly 75% of our members are renewing with Credit Cards and PayPal.
