Nov 2012 Member Meeting

Nov 4, 2012 - This is starting to get repetitive ... Great turnout, overflowing room at Susie's, terrific service, raucous raffle, plenty of laughter and a great post-meeting ride. But this one was a little different.

For starters, it was time for our annual election to fill director positions. As per the by-laws, officers (president, vice president, secretary and treasurer) run annually, and the 10-member board of directors stand for two year terms.

2012 Toy Run Update

Nov 1, 2012 - For those planning to participate in next month's Toy Run to the Sacramento Children's Receiving Home, we're still accepting volunteer cook applications, but we also received an update from the home itself.

Nov Newsletter Online

Oct 30, 2012 - In this month's RCB Newsletter, President Gordy starts out wondering where the year has gone. Seems it wasn't that long ago that we started out with rain spoiling some early rides, and now here we are watching the last months of the year.

Other topics include the election ... not that one ... but our elections! Generous souls are encouraged to contact Gordy for details. Then there's some information regarding the upcoming Toy Run, the Christmas Party and other exciting RCB events.

Cloverdale In My Rear View Mirror

Oct 8, 2012 - In typical RCB fashion, arrivals into the Cloverdale KOA began early afternoon with the spirited group, followed sometime later by a "relaxed" group and interspersed with smaller groups who wanted a different route or a specific enroute destination. But by 5PM, the 60+ Friday arrivals had pitched their tents (or moved into their Kabins) and were already thinking of dinner.

Join our 2013 Planning Meeting

Oct 3, 2012 - Every year around this time a number of RCB members huddle around pizza and soft drinks to plan next year's activities. We tend to repeat successful events, terminate failed events and accept attendee recommendations for new events. In the end we strive for a mix of day/weekend, camp/motel, and on-road/off-road events. It's not always easy and we can use everyone's help.

BMW's new R1200GS

Oct 2, 2012 - BMW's Press Office has been busy today - A 46-page media release (PDF) as well as a full press kit with over 200 photographs announcing the new (water-cooled) R1200GS were published.

Cloverdale Discount Ending!

Sep 27, 2012 - Just a reminder that last month, the management (?) decided to offer a limited time discount for Cloverdale participants. Pay before Sep 29 and the cost for Fred's world famous Bloody Marys, beer on tap, Mary's fine home-style cooking and dessert, and the price drops to an embarrassingly low $5/person! Heck, Mary's home-style cooking is worth three or four times that!

BASH "Thank you"

Sep 21, 2012 - If you have a moment, take a look at Central Cal BMW Rider's October 2012 newsletter. In it you'll find a number of photos of BASH 2012 (pages 11-13), and you'll also find several "Thank Yous" to RCB.

Among them are a general thank you for participating and making it a great event, but also a specific Thank You to Prez Gordy for expertly (he told me to say that!) managing the Poker Run. Kudos to all that participated!

A&S 2012 Vintage Motorcycle Show

Sep 17, 2012 - The Vintage Motorcycle Show is a Fall tradition at A&S Powersports and it attracts scores of amazing old bikes from Ariel to Zundapp! Show starts at 10 a.m. with prizes awarded at 1:00 p.m.

The bikes will be judged by AMA Director Perry King.  (If you'd like to participate, there's no fee, just bring your showpiece to the shop at 8:00 a.m.) Lunch is on the house!* A&S' famous Free Barbeque will be prepared by the River City Beemers motorcycle club.

Wanted: A few good men and women!

Sep 12, 2012 – For its thirty years of existence, RCB has run on volunteers. Starting with Earl Mattingly in October of 1982 and most recently with the dozen who cooked hot dogs during “Christmas in August” at the Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home, hundreds (or thousands) of RCB members have contributed and given unselfishly of their time.
