Northern California's largest and most active BMW motorcycle Club

June 2013 President's Corner

President’s Corner by Gordy Olson, RCBPREZ

Where to begin???……….There is a lot going on in and around the Club, so my corner may be somewhat larger than normal, but please bear with me.

May 2013 President's Corner

Apr 24, 2013 - We are now coming into the prime riding season and those of us with new bikes (and there are quite of few of us!) are even more excited than usual about testing ourselves and our mounts against the area’s twistiests! Every time we throw a leg over we have to marvel at how lucky we are to live and ride in Northern California. Whether you enter the BMW mileage contest or not, commit to riding more often, longer, smarter, and more safely this year than you did last year.

April 2013 President's Corner

Mar 27, 2013 - As I sit down to write this month’s column I have literally just returned from A&S where I signed all the paperwork for my new R1200GSW! Luckily, the first non-demonstrator GSW that arrived at A&S was a white one (my preferred color) with all the extras. I was somewhat disappointed to learn that the new GS has self-adjusting carburetors (probably due to the water-cooled engine) so I will not be able to adjust them myself as I have done on my previous fuel-injected bikes.

February 2013 Ride Report

Feb 6, 2013 - The ride for February took us to the Schellville Grill near the town of Sonoma.

There were about 18 of us, following a familiar path around Davis toward Lake Berryessa with cool weather for the first couple of hours. After a rest stop at Berryessa we continued on to Pope Canyon Road and Howell Mountain Road to the Silverado Trail, where the weather suddenly warmed to the mid-60s and the roads became clearer and drier.

Thank you from the CRH

Dec 23, 2012 - Earlier this month a dozen hearty RCB members braved rain, sleet and snow (well, maybe just rain, but it was heavy rain) to bring a little joy to the residents of the Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home. Arriving with a hundred hot dogs and hamburgers, they provided an alternative to the regular institutional food.

Generous RCB members also donated a large number of movie and fast food gift cards, gifts ideal for the home’s residents and endorsed by the home staff.

Thanking our two favorites

Dec 1, 2012 - They're there every Saturday morning with hot coffee and a "What can I get ya?" smile. And without them our Saturday breakfasts would be noticeably different. So as a small token of our appreciation, both received Christmas tips from RCB this morning. Merry Christmas, Sonya and Miguel, and thank you!

Nov 2012 Member Meeting

Nov 4, 2012 - This is starting to get repetitive ... Great turnout, overflowing room at Susie's, terrific service, raucous raffle, plenty of laughter and a great post-meeting ride. But this one was a little different.

For starters, it was time for our annual election to fill director positions. As per the by-laws, officers (president, vice president, secretary and treasurer) run annually, and the 10-member board of directors stand for two year terms.

2012 Toy Run Update

Nov 1, 2012 - For those planning to participate in next month's Toy Run to the Sacramento Children's Receiving Home, we're still accepting volunteer cook applications, but we also received an update from the home itself.

Nov Newsletter Online

Oct 30, 2012 - In this month's RCB Newsletter, President Gordy starts out wondering where the year has gone. Seems it wasn't that long ago that we started out with rain spoiling some early rides, and now here we are watching the last months of the year.

Other topics include the election ... not that one ... but our elections! Generous souls are encouraged to contact Gordy for details. Then there's some information regarding the upcoming Toy Run, the Christmas Party and other exciting RCB events.

Cloverdale In My Rear View Mirror

Oct 8, 2012 - In typical RCB fashion, arrivals into the Cloverdale KOA began early afternoon with the spirited group, followed sometime later by a "relaxed" group and interspersed with smaller groups who wanted a different route or a specific enroute destination. But by 5PM, the 60+ Friday arrivals had pitched their tents (or moved into their Kabins) and were already thinking of dinner.
