Dec 2011 Newsletter posted

Nov 29, 2011 - The December 2011 River City Beemer newsletter is posted. The newsletter can be found at http://rcb.org/newsletters or by clicking on the Newsletters button to the left.

This is the last newsletter published during President Fred Jewell's reign (?) and we look forward to incoming President Gordy Olson. The newsletter also features updates on the Toy Ride and Christmas Party, as well as updates on the RCB logo and election results. Finally, with the riding season slowing down just a bit, Phil Challinor takes us through Part 1 of a RawHyde off-road riding course,

Deer 1 - RT 0

Nov 29, 2011 - RCB member and fellow Iron Butt-er Bob Brown had an encounter of the painful kind with a Placer County deer last week that led to the substantial damage of his beloved RT and significant portions of his body.

He's recovering fine right now and is telling his story in our forum. Click here to read his story.

Toy Run Update

Nov 26, 2011 - The Children's Receiving Home wants us to appear at 11:00 AM, which will work out well for us to prepare for cooking lunch for everybody. This means we really don't have to leave A&S until 10:30 or so since it is only a few miles away. Ken will have a route that is as circuitous as possible to get there, and once there we need to park in the upper parking lot. If you have a toy that is too big for you to carry on the bike, or you can't make the ride you can bring it to A&S any time and drop it off in their donation box.

Black Friday Ride, anyone?

Nov 15, 2011 - Let's let every one else pack the malls searching for their doorbuster bargains, we should continue our tradition of going riding instead. Last year we went to the Waterloo Inn, and I see no reason to change that this year. Ken is working up a route as we speak, so stay tuned for details coming soon. And don't forget to stop in Lockeford afterwards to pick up some sausages for the weekend! Better than leftovers any day.

Christmas Party Details

Nov 10, 2011 - Don't forget.....the annual RCB Christmas Party is this coming Saturday, December 3, at A&S. The doors will open at 6:30pm, we will start chowing down at about 7pm, and we will be saying our goodbyes by 9:30pm or so.

We need a few volunteers to help with set-up (starting at about 5:30pm) and clean-up (starting at about 9:30pm). If we could get about 4-5 people to help on each end, that would be great! You can either sign up on this Forum thread or just let me know at breakfast that morning.

RCB Toy Run Posted

Nov 09, 2011 - After a few years off we will once again be doing our own toy run after the club meeting on December 3rd. Our designated charity will be the same as we have done in the past, and that is the Sacramento Children's Receiving Home. The home's mission is to provide support for children suffering the effects of abuse and/or neglect. This is where a lot of the kids removed from a bad environment by Child Protective Services end up. You can visit their website at http://www.crhkids.org.

RCB adopts new logo

Nov 5, 2011 - Earlier this year, as part of a world-wide strategy to protect their brand, BMW tightened up brand and logo licensing. The unfortunate side effect of their action was that enthusiast clubs, both car and motorcycle, whose logo infringed upon BMW’s brand, were asked to change their logo. Our original River City Beemer logo needed to be revised.

The voters have spoken

Nov 5, 2011 - After months of jetting across the country, campaigning, hand shaking and baby kissing, the candidates wrapped up their 2012 campaigns on Nov 5 during the RCB membership meeting. Ballots and pens were circulated and tenseness gripped the room until the results were announced.

Replacing retiring Fred Jewell as Club President for the 2012 term will be Gordy Olson who campaigned on a platform of “No new dues!” His acceptance speech was short and to the point “I can still do raffles, right?”
