Tech Day a huge success!

Feb 19, 2012 - A hearty band of about 40 RCB’ers assembled in the repair shop at A&S early on Sunday morning either to work on their own bikes or to watch others work on theirs.  At the height of the action, nine lifts were in use and the tools and advice were really flying!   By the time we quit in the afternoon, there were a number of jobs completed ranging from oil changes and tire mountings for the less adventurous up to throttle body adjustments, brake control and power circuit replacements, clutch bleeds, heated grip multi-switch replacements,

Tech Day is the 19th

Feb 11, 2012 - Don't forget Sunday, February 19 is RCB Tech Day at A&S. Starting at 9AM an A&S tech will be available to assist with tire changing equipment and offer advice and guidance. You will need to bring your own tools, but whether you want to work on your own bike, or just observe and learn from others, this is the best opportunity to see what's "under the hood" of your BMW Motorcycle.

RCB will be providing Pizza and cold drinks. The plan is to break for lunch and wrap up around 3PM to 4PM.

Another overflow crowd!

Feb 4, 2012 - February's club meeting once again overflowed into the adjacent dining areas as regulars, occasional participants and a handful of new members dropped in to catch up.

Gordy opened the meeting by again thanking Captain Phil for his informative First Aid Clinic and then reminded everyone of the upcoming Tech Day at A&S on Feb 19. RCB will supply pizza/sandwiches and door prizes as we focus on motorcycle health instead of human health like last month.

Important Message from BMW MOA

Feb 1, 2012 - BMW MOA issued the following today advising all who established accounts on the BMW MOA forum may have had their UserIDs and Passwords compromised.

"On or about January 27th our Forum membership database was compromised. We believe user names and email addresses were exposed in a readable format.  Passwords were also exposed, but in a highly encrypted format that is difficult to decode.  However, since these are common credentials for both the Forum and your membership account on the MOA web site, we strongly recommend that you change your password on the MOA web site.

Motorcycle First Aid Clinic

Jan 29, 2012 - Last Saturday, RCB member (and Folsom Fire Captain) Phil Challinor addressed a packed crowd at A&S about the importance of Motorcycle First Aid knowledge. His presentation reviewed emergency treatment for injuries common from motorcycle activity; shock, bleeding and broken bones. Two key areas covered were medical emergencies, ways to prevent/prepare for them and keeping yourself safe at the scene of an accident. Demonstrations aided in the understanding of some of these procedures.

Morro Bay Signup

Jan 26, 2012 - If you're planning to join us for our April ride to San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, we will need a headcount for dinner at the Outrigger Restaurant. Organizer Fred Jewell has started a thread in the forum to record participants.

In it's third year, this ride has proven popular as it features stretches of Hwy 1 riding and a quiet, cool weekend prior to summer's heat. A three day weekend with motorcycles - What's wrong with that?

2012 Whale of a Tour Details

Jan 20, 2012 - Details regarding RCB's 5th annual Whale Tour have been posted online. Your host and hostess, Greg & Cyndee Peart will lead a bed & breakfast tour to the lovely Mendocino coast. As always, we plan to stay with Jim and Ayla Douglas at the Sea Gull Inn of Mendocino.

Most popular? R1200GS

Jan 18, 2012 - BMW Motorrad sales results just released indicate a 6.4% growth from 98,047 motorcycles in 2010 to 104.286 motorcycles in 2011. I'll bet there are smiling faces in Berlin. Germany remained BMW Motorrad's biggest market at 20,002 vehicles, while the United States came in third at 10,203. Italy was second and France was fourth. Settling the "2011 most popular worldwide bike" argument again was the R1200GS followed by ...

Thirty years of Presidents

Jan 16, 2011 - It's a thankless job - The hours are long, the benefits poor, no health coverage and no retirement plan - But for some reason (temporary mental incapacitation?), some of our members step forward and accept the mantle for a year or more.

And the rest of us are eternally grateful!

It's probably inadequate, but hanging in the RCB Corner of A&S is a plaque honoring the twelve individuals who have served our organization as President at one time or another. Check it out next time you're at A&S.

Thanking two of our favorites

Jan 14, 2012 - Walk into Susie's any Saturday morning and you'll be greeted by two smiles, a hot pot of coffee and a "What can I get ya?" Those two smiles belong to Sonya and Miguel, who have looked after the RCB membership  ever since we moved from the Western Coffee Pot, three or four years ago.
