Scanning for traffic

May 15, 2012 - There's a lane splitting thread running in our forum right now - Participants are reviewing the benefits and risk/reward equations, and so far it seems everyone has a different opinion. Although it's not specifically mentioned, all the participants would agree that scanning for traffic is key to managing the risk.

June Club Ride - Sam Taylor State Park

May 10, 2012 - Next month's club ride (June 2, 9AM from Susie's) will be to the town of Marshall and Point Reyes Station. The ride out will be a standard group ride, or two groups if there are enough participants. The ride back has two options - Day riders can explore the seaside area before returning home, or ... Bob McCarthy has staked out several campsites at Samuel P Taylor State Park. Located in Northern Marin county in the town of Lagunitas, it is close to Hwy 1, Point Reyes, and not all that far from Bodega Bay.

Lois Lewis Memorial Poker Run Photos

May 9, 2012 - Courtesy of ace photographer Fred Jewell, permanent photographic evidence of this event is now recorded in the RCB Photo Album. (Click on the "Event Photos" link to the left.) Over 70 participants rode up and around the foothills, collecting scavenger-like clues, and returned to Roseville where burgers and drink awaited them. Since this was a Poker Run, there were awards for best, worst and possibly a couple other hands - I lost track.

May meeting is history ...

May 5, 2012 - Amidst a sea of "Corbin" jokes, RCBPREZ Gordy welcomed another overflowing crowd to our May meeting. First order of business was recognition and badges for our first two Lifetime members, Randy Felice and Stan Paolini. Both had invested $499 (or more) when the club needed it and today was long overdue recognition of their generous contribution.

Keeping abreast of RCB activities

Apr. 26, 2012 - The RCB forum is a great source of RCB information - Activities are promoted, riding and maintenance tips are exchanged, and theres a fair amount of friendly banter back and forth. Social engineers would use a word like vibrant - I prefer busy!

Thunderhill Event in June this year!

April 12, 2012 - This is spectacular news. Not only will RCB cosponsor another Rider Skills Improvement Day in 2012, but we were fortunate enough to receive a June weekend ... Yes, you heard correct. No sweltering August date, but a cooler mid-June date.

The date is Sunday, June 17 (doesn't conflict with any RCB events) and once again our cosponsors (Zoom Zoom Track Days) are offering $10 discounts to RCB members. Note there is one change from the 2011 event - To take advantage of the discount, you must register before June 9.

2012 Mt Lassen Canceled

Apr 11, 2012 - This just hasn't been a good week. First Soldier Meadows, then Morro Bay and now Mt. Lassen/Shingletown KOA has to be canceled for 2012. Our always generous, uber-host, Jack Klauschie has a conflict and asked that Mt. Lassen be removed from the calendar. Reluctantly we have done so. His post is in our forum.

Morro Bay - Canceled (update)

Apr 10, 2012 - Regrettably, the weather forecast continues to deteriorate for all coastal and inland routes to Morro Bay. While we were willing to persevere through an hour or so of rain, it's unlikely anyone wants to duel the weather for six hours all the way to Morro Bay.

Those of you with room reservations will need to contact Dennis at the Morro Crest Motel at 805/772-7740 to cancel your room reservations. You will be charged one night for the deposit.

2012 Riding Clinic Signup

Apr. 7, 2012 - RCB's annual Riding Clinic will be held later this month and signups have already begun. Since class sizes are limited, it would be a good idea to sign up now if you're interested.

Sign up in our forum.

Classes will be kept small and organized by skill level. The environment is relaxed and participants will be feel their skill level and confidence improve. The clinic is a great refresher course prior to this year's riding season.

2012 Soldier Meadows Canceled

April 4, 2012 - Sad news from Black Rock Desert - Long-time Soldier Meadows Ranch owner/operator Jim Kudrna passed away and his wife, Kathy, decided to sell the ranch. A new owner has come forward but his plans for the bunk house and visitors are indeterminate.

Reluctantly, RCB has canceled our 2012 Soldier Meadows event and will review opportunities next year.
