Screen Saver
Courtesy Doug Gordon, BMW Touring Club
of Detroit
Try this really slick "3D-look" screen saver that
will work on both Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. To install it on your
system, follow this procedure:
- Download the executable file.
Select the "Save to disk" option if your browser asks, and save it to some
temporary directory. This file is about 290K bytes, so it will take a few minutes to
download.
- After exiting or minimizing the browser, start up the
regular Explorer program and find the file that you just downloaded. Double-click on it.
- In the self-extractor's window, enter the destination
directory for the screen saver file. For Windows 95, this will generally be c:\windows\system;
for Windows NT 4.0, it will be something like c:\winnt\system32.
- Right-click somewhere on the background of your Windows
"desktop" screen, then select Properties.
- Select the Screen Saver tab.
- In the drop-down list, you should now see BMW listed.
Select it. You can use the Preview button to take a look at it.
- Set the delay that you want and then select OK to
make this your default screen saver.
Here's the XP version:
Download it here.
The install procedure is similar to the one above, but the
destination folder is c:\windows\system32, which is pre-set in the
self-extracting file.
After extracting the file to c:\windows\system32, open
My Computer and navigate to the c: drive, and to the \windows\system32
folder. Scroll down until you see the file, ssbmwball.scr. Right-click on
that file name and click on Install. Follow steps 4 - 6 above, and you should
see bmwball in the list of screensavers. Follow the rest of the
instructions above.

keep your other Garmin files.
You can then download it to your Garmin GPS unit using the Mapsource software.
