Stan Paolini Feb. 7, 1931 – Nov. 29, 2014

Stanley Bernard Paolini, 83, a longtime resident of Placerville, passed away Saturday, November 29th 2014, due to complications resulting from a fall. He was born February 7th, 1931, in Hanford California and attended high school in Walla Walla Washington. Stan worked as an engineering assistant at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation and also with the Bureau of Reclamation. While working for Western Auto, he attended and excelled at the Dale Carnegie Institute. He served on active duty in the Navy as a heavy equipment operator from 1951-1953 and the Ready Reserve until 1960.

After his military service, he worked as a manager for Montgomery Ward Automotive in the Bay Area. Stan owned and operated Placerville Tire from 1976 until he retired in 2004. He served as the President of Placerville Kiwanis in 1977-78 and Kiwanis District Lt. Governor in 1985-86. Stan helped to fund and build the Kiwanis Family House, located on the campus of UC Davis Medical Center, serving on the original board of directors. In 2010, he received the William A. Dunlap Fellowship Award for outstanding service and support of Kiwanis and was recognized for his commitment and long standing service to the “house” with a Kiwanis Family House Star award in 2014.
Stan was a member and director of the El Dorado County Taxpayer’s Association. He ran for Placerville City Council as a write in candidate and lost by 13 votes, for which he was eternally grateful. He was a Mason for almost 60 years and a member of the Placerville Hiram Masonic Lodge. Stan was passionate about motorcycling and was a Board member emeritus of River City Beemer motorcycle club. In 2012, at age 82, Stan rode 1,000 miles in less than 24 hours to become a proud member of the Iron Butt Riders Association, “The Worlds Toughest Riders”. He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Paolini of Elk Grove, CA and Tammy Paolini of Sequim, WA. A celebration of his life will be held on January 25th from 3-6 at the Pizza Factory on Broadway in Placerville and details will be announced after the holidays.
