Pine Creek campout

Join us for a weekend of camping and exploring the outback of central Nevada. The ride will depart Susie’s on Friday, June 16 at 8AM. We will eventually make our way to Pine Creek campground (our Base Camp) nestled in Aspen trees at the base of 11,814 ft. Mt. Jefferson. The sites at the campground have picnic tables, fire rings, and BBQ’s. There are vaulted toilets.

Some sites of interest in the area: Toquima Cave, Potts Station (Potts Hot Spring), Diana’s Punch Bowl, and the town of Belmont (semi-ghost town and home to Dirty Dick’s Saloon).

Saturday’s schedule has us heading to Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park (if enough interest). The route will take us south to Belmont, over to Manhattan, on to Gabbs, and finally to the state park.

I have volunteered the use my truck as the support vehicle. The plan is to bring coolers of food, drinks, firewood, water, and extra fuel for the bikes. I am trying to get a friend of mine to drive the truck so I can ride, but if I can’t find anyone, I will bring my KLX300R on my carrier so I can ride from the campground. The roads in the area are in good condition (gravel/dirt) and should be no problem for motorcycles with street tires. I wouldn’t recommend this trip for sport bikes. Last August my daughter and I did this trip and had a fun time.

If you are interested in exploring with fellow RCBer’s, please email me at It will be important to get an accurate rider count so we can plan accordingly. Ken is assisting me with the GPS route upload(s). I am hopeful by the June 3 club meeting rider counts/details will be finalized.

Thanks for your interest.
